Tumblr is (and always has been) a weird beast. As has been said, the best way to get your work seen is to already be popular. Also there's the issue of Tumblr being for content aggregators, and like some other sites you get more credit for sharing something than you do for creating it (which is a whole different issue).
This isn't exclusive to Twitter. Instagram and pretty much social media in general isn't made for artists. It is made for earning money through advertisements, so it's in the site's best interest to want so much engagement in a short time. This is 100% incompatible with any artist's life, we need time to make art after all.
This is, in my experience, one of the key factors for art buyers. You are creating digital art, but they want a tangible object. I recommend not sending the digital file at all, and instead have the file turned into a high quality canvas print. I would also raise your prices to the $125 - $150 mark as well.
